My Latest Consignment Store Transformation

I found this black Restoration Hardware Cal King headboard, footboard and side rails at a local consignment store. It was reduced from $245.00 down to $165.00! And then the owner checked my account and I had $130.00 credit for a piece I had painted and consigned! So, I scored this set for only $35.00 out of pocket!

The black definitely needed to be painted over to go with the rest of our decor and I chose Boardwalk Blue. The scrolled part of the headboard is my favorite part! Here's a closer look at the scrolling...

It took two coats of paint to cover over the black finish. When I was done painting, I used Easy Varnish to protect the paint and give it a satin finish.

Adding the headboard and footboard really finishes the room. And it looks beachy keen!

What piece do you have that needs a new look? It is so easy to do and you will love the results!

  • I have heard that the chalk paints are susceptible to finger prints frim body oils. Would the Easy Varnish prevent this problem?
